The Photograph With No Face

A forgotten photograph found inside an old camera contains a family gathering where one person's face has mysteriously disappeared.

Nina bought the old camera at a weekend market.

The seller said it had belonged to someone who traveled extensively, but he knew nothing else.

When Nina opened the camera, she found an undeveloped roll of film.

She had the photographs developed.

Most showed ordinary scenes: mountains, railway stations, crowded streets, and beaches.

One photograph was different.

It showed a family standing outside a house.

There were six people.

Five faces were perfectly clear.

The sixth person's face was completely blank.

Nina studied the photograph for hours.

She searched online for the house and eventually found an old address matching the building.

The house still existed.

An elderly woman answered the door.

When Nina showed her the photograph, the woman's expression changed.

"Where did you get this?" she asked.

"An old camera."

The woman invited Nina inside.

She explained that the photograph had been taken forty years earlier.

The person with the missing face was her older brother.

He had disappeared three days after the photograph was taken.

Nobody had ever discovered what happened to him.

The woman had kept searching for years.

Nina handed the photograph back.

The woman stared at it.

"Perhaps now someone else will remember him," she whispered.

Nina left the house feeling strangely unsettled.

That night, she looked at the photograph again.

The blank face was no longer blank.

A faint outline had appeared.

It was the face of a young man looking directly at the camera.

Underneath the photograph, Nina noticed a handwritten sentence:

"Some memories wait for the right person to find them."
