The Message in the Rain

A forgotten message appears on a rainy window every year, leading two people to a meeting neither expected.

Every September, the same message appeared on the window of an old café.

"Meet me when it rains."

Nobody knew who wrote it.

The café owner had cleaned the window many times, but the words always returned during the first heavy rain of the season.

One year, a young photographer named Mira noticed them.

She photographed the message.

The following year, she returned.

A man was sitting at the table beside the window.

He was holding an old photograph.

Mira recognized the place in the photograph.

It was the same café, twenty years earlier.

"Did you write the message?" she asked.

The man smiled.

"My grandfather did."

He explained that his grandfather had met his future wife at the café during a storm.

They had promised to return every September.

They kept the promise for fifty years.

After his grandmother died, the man continued coming alone.

Mira sat down.

"Maybe the message was never meant for one particular person," she said.

"Maybe it was meant for whoever needed it."

The rain continued outside.

They talked until the café closed.

The following September, they returned together.

The message appeared again.

This time, they added one more line beneath it:

"Some meetings are worth waiting for."
